Art was always my favourite subject and I enjoyed painting or drawing anything. I became an Interior Designer as it allowed me to draw and be creative.
I have always enjoyed looking at paintings in watercolour. That fascinated my inner feelings as how the artist could control the medium with such ease and simplicity.
In 2005 I decided to learn from Ng Woon Lam , a well know local artist from the Singapore Watercolour Society. After 3 years I learnt from Seah Kam Chuan , the President of the Singapore Watercolour Society for another 3 years. That gave me a good foundation and understanding of the medium. In the meantime I went plein air painting every Saturday morning with my friends to the streets of Singapore.
Since migrating to Adelaide in 2007 , I found it difficult to paint the landscapes as the colours and terrain were so new to me. I just kept on painting and not giving up as it was just a hobby back then. I entered Rotary art shows and when I won my first major prize, it gave me the confidenceto express myself in this wonderful medium. I agree it is a difficult medium but the joy and happiness it can bring has outweighed all the frustrations and the more you paint, the more you understand about watercolour.
