Barbara McGuire



Barbara McGuire is an Australian born artist. After a career in teaching she was able to develop and extend her long held interest and knowledge in art through studying at the University of South Australia and the Central School of Art. 

She has developed both a traditional and a creative approach in her paintings – using watercolours, oils, acrylics, pastels and mixed media. Barbara has won several awards and has had three solo exhibitions. Her work has been exhibited in many regional exhibitions as well as at the Adelaide Art Society, the Royal South Australian Society of Arts.  

Her influences have been many – including Arthur Phillips, Joseph Zbukvic, Herman Pekel, John Lacey, Lorraine Lewitzka, Liz Gartner,Trevor Newman and Alan Ramachandran. 

Her recent work has been influenced by overseas trips to Morocco, Egypt, Amsterdam and painting workshops in France and Croatia. 

Barbara is a Fellow of the Royal South Australian Society of Arts and a former  office holder on the Society’s Council. She is also a member and former president of the Adelaide Art Society and a member of the Australian Guild of Realist Artists, the South Australian Water Colour Society, the Pastel Artists of South Australia and the Port Community Art Centre.
