Haley O'Shea

A lifelong interest in drawing and painting, interrupted by marriage and children, although interspersed with night classes and dabbling.

A Certificate in Commercial Art which led nowhere and then a discovery of the local Art Society. There I found watercolour. I continued my love of charcoal figure drawing, established during my Commercial Art studies, but a change in living arrangements disallowed any move to oils or acrylics.

I've attempted all manner of subject matter with varying degrees of success but found my strengths lie in portraiture and figure studies. I seem to have developed two styles, one splash and slash and the other controlled and careful. I enjoy both equally but have had more success commercially with the studied and deliberate method.I've been awarded several prizes for my work and have a slow but steady sell rate both of which are very gratifying.

I hope to continue to learn and grow as an artist as it is so fulfilling and rewarding to me.
